How Exsul works

Briefly: why the app runs offline and why your data is yours.

  • Not a single server of ours

We have no cloud collecting your data. Every device keeps the full database and exchanges changes directly with your other devices whenever they share a network.

If they are far apart, they find each other through a private network you switch on yourself, or exchange changes through your own Google Drive.

  • Two people changed the same thing

Nothing is lost. Every action is recorded as a separate event with its own time, and devices arrange the events in a single order. Changes do not overwrite each other: the app merges them.

  • What staff can see

Revenue, cost and reports are not sent to an employee’s device. The role is granted from the main device and signed with its key, so another phone cannot declare itself the owner and ask for the money.

  • If the computer dies

A backup is one file with your photos inside, sealed with your licence key. It opens on any of your devices, even a computer’s copy on a phone. With Google Drive connected, copies go there by themselves.

  • What we know about you

Nothing about your business: no customers, no revenue, no products. The app checks the key when it starts and, unless you switch off Statistics in settings, sends counters once a day: the version, the device and which sections you opened. Orders, names, phones, prices and photos are never sent.
